Sportsbetting3 CBB Free Plays: Sunday, January 15, 2012

It was a crazy action-packed Saturday in the sports betting world. The Saints and 49ers hooked up in what is sure to be a instant classic with four lead changes in the Final Cuatro minutes of the Saints 36-32 win. Alex Smith led the 49ers 85 yards in seven plays over 1:28 finally connecting with Vernon Davis for the 14-yard dagger with :09 seconds left. Tom Brady was 6-34 for 363 and six TDs in the Pats 45-10 blowout of the Broncos. Tim Tebow was 9-26 and 136 as Denver had no solutions for New England on either side of the ball.

Around the horn quick with other highlights. Florida State is 0-2 vs the Ivy League this year but beat #6 North Carolina by 33 on Saturday as college basketball madness continues. Mighigan, Michigan State, Kansas State, and UNLV were other ranked teams to get whacked. Kobe Bryant won the battle but Chris Paul won the war as the Clippers went wire-to-wire in a 102-94 win over the Lakers. Kobe had 42 for his fourth straigh 40-point game. Paul had 33 but tweaked a hammy late. Todd Bertuzzi scored in OT in to lift the Red Wings to a 3-2 win over NHL Western Conference heavies. Jose Aldo stopped Chad Mendes with just one second left in the first round at UFC 142.

(NFL) Giants/Packers Over the Total of 53

No real brain surgery here. The Packers beat an injury riddled Giant squad 38-35 in Week 13 with both teams combining for 896 (449/447) yards of total offense. The Giants are working four straight unders but are 25-12 in their L37 vs the NFC and 29-19 over in their L48 games overall. Packer games were 11-5 Over, 7-1 at Lambeau Field. Weather will not be an issue as temperatures are expected to be in the high 20’s with the wind chill send it down to 14. It will be brisk but not impossible like the NFC title games here four years ago. Figure both teams to get their points in a slugfest.

(NHL) Rangers -130 over the Canadiens

The Broadway Blues lead the NHL with 60 points and rebounded from their loss at Ottawa by blanking the Leafs 3-0 last night. It’s their third game in four tonights but this is a pretty easy Canada swing and NYR is a perfect 4-0 on the back of their last four back-to-backs. Further, Rangers are 10-2 in their L12 overall, 14-4 vs losing records, and getting Hart Trophy play from Lunqvist between the pipes. The homestanding Hbs are 3-7 in L10 and off B2B loss scoring just one goal. Montreal is just 7-17 vs winning records and that doesn’t figure to improve here. Take the Rangers.

(CBB) Indiana +13 over Ohio State

Not sure where this number came from. Sure the Hoosiers have come back to the field some since their wins over Kentucky and this same Ohio State team on New Year’s Eve but this team is well coached, averages 81 ppg, and can really shoot the rock. The Buckeyes are a 50/50 proposition ATS at best, 7-6 for the year, 4-4 in their L8. Ohio State is just 1-3 in their L4 as a home favorite of 12-15. SP3 is very aware of the series history and the revenge angle but this is simply too many points for a team that shoots 50% from the field and 45% from beyond the arc. Take the points.

(CBB) Duke at Clemson Under 134.5

Clemson plays the same solid defense under Brad Brownell that they did under Oliver Purnell. The Under is 7-4 in Tiger games this year, 40-24 over the last two plus years, and the homies have neutralized this type of shooting teams before as the under is 11-5 in Clemson games vs team avgg better than 77 ppg. Duke can play some defense too and come off a game where they held a very similar Virginia team to just 58 points on 39% shooting. In fact, the Blue Devils are 27-13 under in ACC play over the last three years and that includes 3-0 low in the last three games of this series. Looking at a game finishing in the low 120s. Play the Under.
