NBA took center stage with an 11-game card on the Martin Luther King holiday. In matinee action, the Bulls saw their five-game win streak go down the drain with a 16-point loss at Memphis. Derrick Rose sat this one out with a sore toe. Oklahoma City won it’s seventh-straight holding for Boston 97-88 on the front end of the TNT double-header. Keven Durant had 28 and Russel Westbrook 26 for the winners. Paul Pierce had 24 for the Celtics who have now lost five straight, four straight at home. Derek Fisher’s 23-footer with :00:03 left on the clock gave the Lakers a 73-70 win over the Mavs. Kobe Bryant saw his 40-point streak stopped at four games in a game that was 39-35 at the half. Both teams shot poorly combining for 5-36 from beyond the arc. Monday’s other MLK winners were Orlando, Philly, Houston, Cleveland, Portland, The Clippers, Atlanta, and Minnesota.

(NBA) Orlando -11.5 over Charlotte

The Magic are doing their best to keep Dwight Howard. Orlando is a surprising 9-3 and Ryan Anderson has emerged as an under-the-radar superstar. The Magic have won and covered five of their L6 and thrive in the role of the bully. Orlando is 7-2 as a fave this year and 18-10 in their L28 as a favorite of 9-12 points. Orlando is 25-8 in the series, 14-2 in Orlando since the reincarnation of Charlotte. Assuming they’ll win here, will they cover this steeop impost ??? Four of Charlotte’s last five losses were by double-digits (BCats 1-5 ATS vs winning records) so a 20 point Orlando win wouldn’t be a surprise here.

(NBA) Utah -4 over the Clippers

Don’t look now but the Jazz are a very quiet 8-4 and are 6-1 (5-2 ATS) at home with the only loss coming to the Lakers. Utah has won seven of eight and covered six of their last seven. The Clippers have won six of their last seven games but will be without linchpin Chris Paul (officially doubtful with hammy) who was hurt in Sunday’s win over the Lakers. The Clippers are a work in progress and have been aided to this point by a front-loaded home schedule. They are just 1-2 on the road and 1-3 as a dog and tonight play without arguably the world’s best point giard. The Jazz are super tough at Energy Solutions and get the nod to cover the small number here.

(CBB) Oklahoma -13 over Texas Tech

The Red Raiders have been awful in conference play going 0-4 and losing by a combined 59 points. They are 2-9 in their 11 lined games. Tech has won three of four in the series but are just 1-5 SU and ATS in their L6 visits to Norman. four of the five losses by double-digits. Like every Lon Kruger team, the Sooners are 6-0 vs teams ranked lower than 200 with five of the six wins by 12+ points. They have a win over Kansas State so they do have some quality. The Sooners have four starters back from a team that got throttled 84-58 last year. They return the favor here, call it 80-60.

(NHL) Islanders/Caps Over 5.5

The over is 5-2 in the Islanders last seven games and the over is also 19-9 in the series on this ice. NYI is also 3-0 over in their last back end of back-to-backs and are off 3-1 loss to Nashville on Monday. the Caps are as dependable as rain and the hardest team in hockey to figure. After a slow start, the Caps have won their last seven home games and have had trouble lighting the lamp in DC avgg 3.2 gpg in their 23 home games. The teams met November 5th at the Nassau Coliseum with the Islanders coming away with a 5-3 win. Look for that type of scoring here and play the over.
