Just 27 days before selection Sunday
Michigan and Georgetown were the only ranked teams to see action on Sunday and both won easily. Cal beat USC 59-47 to complete their first 4-0 USC/UCLA sweep since 1959, the year the Bears won the National Championship. Kentucky and Syracuse both won Saturday so there should be no change in the top two positions in the AP poll. Missouri spanked Baylor to complete a series sweep of the Bear as the Tigers continue to lobby for a possible #1 seed. UNLV beat San Diego State with a late bucket. This is arguably the best head-to-head West of the Mississippi right now.
The Lakers blew a big first quarter lead at Toronto and needed a late bucket to beat the Raptors 94-92. The Lakers completed their grammy road trip at 3-3. The Celtics snapped the Bulls five-game winning streak as Derrick Rose sat out his second straight game with back spasms. The Bulls had been the first team in NBA history to win four straight road games by 20+ points. The Heat jumped on the Hawks right away in Atlanta and never looked back in a 107-87 road win. The Wiz, Warriors, and Jazz also won.
The Red Wings won their 20th straight home game at Joe Lewis Arena to tie the NHL record, a 4-3 win over the Flyers. Division leaders Florida and the NY Rangers both won, the Panthers spanking the Islanders, the Broadway Blueshirts edging the Caps. The Blues whitewashed the Sharks, the Pens iced the Lightning … the Ducks and Kings also won.
Phil Mickelson was teamed up with Tiger Woods on Sunday and lefty shot a 64 to win Pebble Beach, his first win in ten months. Tiger shot a 3-over 75 to finish at eight-under good for T-15. Lefty is 8-3-1 the L11 times he’s played Tiger heads up and evened the LT series between the two at 13-13-4.

(CBB) Syracuse at Louisville Under 137
The Orange have only one loss on the year, none with human eraser Fab Melo in the middle. Boeheim hasn’t been very happy with his troops of late, particularly their glass work. With Melo in the middle, teams are avgg about 61 ppg against the Cuse and getting there half the time with the substantial garbage time. Louisville is at it’s best when the press is working and they just don’t have the offense to compete in a shootout. Thinking this one could be the first to 60 wins. Play the under.

(CBB) Kansas -3.5 over Kansas State
Kansas blew out the Wildcats 67-49 (-9.5) on January 4th in Lawrence dominating every aspect of the game despite turning the ball over 20 times. The Wildcats have had some success on this floor with two of the last three but that was after a run of 24 straight by the Jayhawks. In fact, Kansas is 12-2 SU and 11-3 ATS in the L15 on the home floor of their interstate rival. The Wildcats are a bit down and had their hearts ripped out Saturday blowing an 18-point halftime lead in a loss at Texas. Kansas is still battling Missouri in the Big 12 and still in the hunt for a #1 seed in the dance. No upset alert here, Jayhawks by ten.

(NBA) Philadelphia -11.5 over Charlotte
Both teams are playing their this game in four nights but that’s where any similarity between the two ends. The Bobcats have lost 14 straight, the last two 111-86 and 95-64. Charlotte is 9-18 vs the points in all games, 3-9 ATS at home, and 4-10 ATS against winning records. Philly has been crushing this kind, they’re 16-6 as a favorite, 12-2 ATS against losing records, and on a 7-0 run points run against teams avgg less than 91 ppg. The Bobcats are a 3-24 team that can’t score and Philly should run them out of the gym if they keep their foot on the pedal.

(NHL) Washington +108 over San Jose
The Caps lost their showdown at the Rangers last night but return to home ice where they do their best work. In fact, Washington is 19-9 at home and 8-19 on the road. The Caps are desperate and can get a 3-17 San Jose monkey off their back. The Sharks are just 1-6 in their L7 road games and were blanked last night in St Louis. San Jose is a respectable 5-3 in the second of B2Bs but this is game two of a seven game in 11 night roadie and they’ll have their hands full with the Caps. Grab a pretty good fired up home team at positive money.
