LIn-Sanity sweeps NY City as the Knicks thump the Lakers

Harvard’s Jeremy Lin scored 38 points as the Knicks take down Kobe and the Lakers 92-85 for their fourth straight win. The Red Wings won their 19th straight home game, a 3-2 shootout victory over the Ducks. The streak is the second longest in NHL history. Loyola Maryland stopped Iona 87-81 in feature action on a light night in college hoops. Tiger Woods trails Charlie Wi by six strokes at the half way mark of his PGA tour debut at Pebble Beach. John Izner shocked Roger Federer in Davis Cup to give the US a 2-0 lead over Switzerland. The Patriot’s Rob Gronkowski had surgery on his ankle that will have a projected recovery period of around 10 weeks.

Kansas State +4 over Texas

This is a big game for both teams and a win here would go a long way in avoiding bubble issues down the line. The Wildcats won the first round 84-80 in little Manhattan despite hitting just 53% of their foul shots. K State is on an 0-4 ATS run versus winning records but 3-1 as a dog this year and playing a team they’ve handled relatively easily the last three years. The Longhorns have been a punters disaster, 6-13 ATS in all games, 2-11 as a favorite, and 3-7 at home. We’ll play K State straight up.

Providence -2 over South Florida

To BIg East also rans hook up here in a game that SP3 see’s with strong line value. The Bulls upset Pitt during the week shooting 61% from the field for the game. The Bulls had failed to cover their prior three including an 81-78 win (-7) vs these Friars in Tampa. Providence had been showing buy signs but comes off a game that saw them blow an 18-point lead vs Villanova in a 74-72 loss. The Friars have covererd four straight and despite poor year would probably be laying 5-6 in a home game like this. Today, they seal the deal at home.

San Diego State +9.5 over UNLV

Both teams have had a week to think about this one. The Aztecs won the first round, the conference opener for both teams, a 69-67 decision in San Diego that saw the Rebels shoot just 35% for the game including 8-27 from beyond the arc. The home team is 7-0 ATS in UNLV Mountain West games, the dog is 6-1 in the Aztecs seven conference games. SDSU has had the Rebels number forever and are on a current 6-1 SU and ATS run in the series. Not much respect for a 20-3 team with a solid pedigree that has dominated the series. Grab the points.

Kentucky -5.5 over Vanderbilt

The Wildcats are just rampaging through the SEC and are fresh off a 20-point home win over the arguably second best Florida Gators. The Wildcats have won five of six in the series but the last three have all been decided by four points or less. KU has covered five straight with their smallest margin of victory 13. Vandy is 4-1 in SEC home games, 3-1 as a conference dog. SEC home dogs of six or less are 7-3. Upset alert ??? Not here. this might be Calipari’s year. Kentucky by 14.

(NBA) Indiana -3 over Denver

This is the Nuggets 7th game in 10 nights, the Pacers fouth game in five nights so there will be plenty of tired legs at the Field House tonight. Denver has lost five in a row and seven of their last eight. The Nuggets are really battling injuries and feeling the lack of depth with this busy schedule. The Pacers have lost three of four and have faled to cover their last four at home. The Pacers are 7-2 straight up at home and if Indy is in fact a team that can make some noise in the East, they have to win games like these. The impost is certainly fair.

(NHL) Vancouver -4 over Calgary

The Canucks are the hottest team in the NHL winning six of their L7 overall and five straight on the road. Vancouver’s only loss out of the break is to the equally hot Red Wings. The Flames are just 2-5 in their L7 and 1-3 in their L4 home games. The Flames are just 5-10 in the L15 of the series with their divsion rivals including 2-5 at the Saddledome. Calgary is 12-3 in the division but faces their worst matchup in a bad spot here. Take Vancouver.
