Spurs win 11th straight, Nets spoil Melo’s return behind 38 from Deron Williams
Tony Parker had 23/6/11 and Tim Duncam and Matt Bonner scored 20 each as the Spurs beat the Jazz 106-102 for their 11th straight win and the 7th straight of their rodeo roadie. San Antonio closes their 8000 mile odyssey tonight at Portland and Thursday at Denver before returning home for a Feb 29th showdown with the Bulls.
Jeremy Lin-Sanity started eight games ago when the Harvard PG game off the bench to score 25 points in a come from behind win over the Nets. That fact didn’t escape New Jersey last night in a 100-92 victory over the Knicks. Deron Williams spoiled Carmelo Anthony’s return with 38 including a career high eight treys. Lin had 21/7/8 but fouled out. Melo had 11/3 in limited minutes.
Derrick Rose returned to the lineup after missing six games with back spasms to lead the Bulls to a 90-78 President’s Day matinee win over the Hawks. Last year’s MVP had 23/5/6 and Joakim Noah pulled down 16 boards for the victors. In other games in “The Association”, Dallas spanked the Celtics, Houston edged Memphis, Orlando beat the Bucks for the third time in ten days. OKC dumped New Orleans, Denver OT’d the Wolves …. and Phoenix, Golden State, and the Lakers all won.

(CBB) Kansas State +9.5 over Missouri
The Wildcats handed the Tigers their first loss of the year in the first go aound, Mizzou was down 45-24 at the half and never threatened. K State is just 1-3 as a conference road dog and three of their last four losses are by six points or less. Missouri has won seven straight and all but one of their conference home games by double-digits. A big game for both teams, K State clearly on the bubble, Missouri still in the hunt for a #1 seed. In the end, this one is decided by a bucket in a hard fought Mizzou win. Take the points.
(CBB) New Mexico -5 over Colorado State
The Rams are 5-0 at home in Mountain West play and in revenge mode off New Mexico’s 85-52 win at The Pit back on January 25th. The Lobos are healthy and playing their best ball of the year, boatracing seven straight foes by double-digits including a 65-45 win over UNLV in their latest. The Lobos have been an ATM for punters, 18-5 overall, 18-4 as a favorite, 7-1 ATS on the road, 12-1 vs the points after allowing 60 or less. SP3 is not standing in front of this train.
(NBA) Cleveland -1.5 over Detroit
Both the Pistons and the Cavs play their third game in five nights here so the fatigue factor is a wash. The Pistons are 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS in their L9 but that’s a bit misleading as all seven wins were against sub .500s. The Cavs have a losing record and not in their best spot which is off a win where the Cavs are 0-6 SU and 0-4-2 ATS in their last six. Cleveland spanked the Pistons by 16 at Auburn Hills in the only meeting this year and have dominated the series to the tune of 7-2 SU and ATS. Lay the small number.
(NHL) Phoenix -108 over LA Kings
The Coyotes are 7-1 in February with their only loss at Vancouver, they’ve won five straight home games. The Kings are 2-6 in their L8 scoring just 10 goals and off B2B 1-0 shutout losses including a loss to these Coyotes just four nights ago. The series is virtually dead even in all aspects with the last six series meetings decided by two goals or less. Based on current form which is pretty much all we have here, the Desert Dogs are a steal on home ice at less than a dime.
