(CBB) St Johns +5.5 over Pittsburg (Note that this game tips at around 2:30 PM EST, a matinee
The Johnnies have had a tough year but you know that they do their best work in the Mecca and they will have MSG rocking in the second game of the afternoon matinee. Remember that the Storm is down to just seven scholarship players albeit very good ones. St John’s is 6-4 L10 as a dog. Pitt owned this tournament between 2003-2008 going 14-4 but the Panthers are 0-3 the last three years and that after getting first-round bye all three years. These teams met a week ago on senior day at Pitt, an 89-69 Panther rout that saw Pitt drill 10-21 treys but … that was Pitt’s only win in last seven and the Johhnies figure to leav it on the floor here. Grab the points.
(CBB) Dayton -10 over George Washington
Dayton has won their last four opening round games in this tournament, 3X by double-digits, twice by 18+. If George Washington was a boxer, it would be looking for a soft place to fall down. GW is 2-11 on the road (3-9 ATS), just 6-12 as a dog, and 5-10 ATS after scoring 60 or less in their prior game which is the case here. These same two teams just played 72 hours ago with the Flyers (-9.5) winning 75-59. Dayton has won five of six, covered six of eight, and have won their last three home games by a combined 59 points. Right back with the homies.
(CBB) Montana -11 over Eastern Washington
SP3 has done pretty good using Montana this year and we’ll back them here against a team they beat twice easily during the year. The Grizz beat the Eagles 79-71 (-6) here and 74-60 (+1) at Cheney. EWU has four of their last six but are just 1-7 in their L8 as a dog. Further, EWU is just 1-7 ATS after their L8 Big Sky wins and 1-4 vs the points after scoring 80+ in their prior game. The Grizz are 12-4 ATS in conference play this year and 7-1 in their L8 as a HF of 9-12 points. Take Montana.
(NBA) Lakers -5 over Detroit
This is the Lakers third game in five nights, the Pistons have had the last two days off. The fresh legs may not matter much here as LA may have finally found its stride winning five of their last six. The Lake Show is just 2-6 ATS in L8 roadies but these are the Pistons who have lost four of five. Detroit actuall plays tough at home and is 10-2 ATS in their L12 at Auburn Hills but … SP3 thinks that statement win over the Heat on Sunday was a signally of a change in gears and thinking we’ll see much better Lakers in the second half. Lakers 105-92.
