Penn State and Indiana Under 47 1/2
Definitely not interested in having either side here but can definitely see this game getting under the total. The Nittany Lions have allowed just 50 points with Alabama ccounting for 27 of those in Week II. Penn State allowing just 249 ypg and held a better Indiana team to just 313 total yards last year. The Hoosiers are weak against the pass but that’s not what Joe’s kids do well. Expect an overland slugfest with the chains moving slowly and the clock keeping ticking. Points will be at a premium for the both teams, especially if the Nits struggle in the redzone. Play the Under.
Eastern Michigan -8 1/2 over Akron
The Zips are 0-3 vs FBS teams losing to Ohio State, Temple, and Cincinnati by a 142-17 aggregate. Akron finished 116th in total offense last year and are well on their way to duplicating or bettering that mark this year. AU has lost 16 straight road games, their last win coming here in 2008 snapping a five game road losing streak in the series. The EMU’s are not much but they are battle tested after taking on Michigan and Penn State back-to-back and the defense actually played well allowing 31 and 34 points respectively. The “strength” of the Eagles is rushing the football which they should do with some success here. EMU can play keep away with long drives with TOP wearing down the Zips and keeping the back door shut. Eastern Michigan 26-13.
Marshall and Louisville Under 46 1/2
The Thundering Herd have scored 13-26-7-10 points respectively with the 26 coming in a game where they were the recipient of six turnovers. The Herd defense has actually played fairly well and will enjoy seeing punchless Cards after the hard to handle Ohio Bobcats and Virginia Tech. Louisville is aching for the Bobby Petrino days when 35 was the points they’d have at the half. These days the Cards are scoring 21 against the likes of Murray State, 17 against Florida International and 24 against Kentucky. The Under is 18-9 in Marshall’s L27 games and the Low is 14-6 with the Herd as a dog. The Under is 9-3 in Louisville L12 at Papa John and 20-9 Low when Louisville if favored. Cant find 46 1/2 points here.
Baylor -3 1/2 over Kansas State
Robert Griffin is the Heisman candidate that nobody is talking about. Everyone knew his name after his 50-48 breakout win over TCU on college football’s opening night but he’s flown under-the-radar the last month despite blowout wins over two creampuffs. Griffin has thrown just 12 incompletions all year and led the Bears to a 47-42 (-6) over a better Kansas State last year. The Wildcats are fat and happy after beating Miami Florida in an absolute horrible spot for the Hurricanes. Lets not forget KState beat EASTERN Kentucky just 10-7 in their opener. Baylor is 6-3 as a fave and 13-6 in their L19 as a road fave and this number is very manageable. Take the Baylor Bears.
