San Antonio routs Lakers to spoil Kobe’s return
For the second time in 72 hours, the Spurs put a beat down on the Lakers. Tuesday, it was 112-93 San Antonio in a game that was not as close as the final score. That was at the Staples Center and LA was playing their sixth straight game without Kobe Bryant. It was more of the same in Alamo City as the Spurs put on a clinic boatracing the Lake Show 121-97 with Kobe back in the lineup. Tim Duncan had 21 points and 8 rebounds and Tony Parker chipped in with 20 points and 10 assists. The Spurs shot 47-77 (61%) from the field including 10-15 from downtown. Kobe has 18 points on 7-12 shooting in his return for the Lakers.
Amare Stoudamire returned to the Knicks after sitting out 13 games with a back injury. Stodamire had 15 points in 27 minutes for New York in their 98-90 loss at Cleveland. The Cavs outrebounded the visitors 52-32. Atlanta beat Boston 97-92 in what will likely be a first-round playoff matchup. Joe Johnson had 30 points for the Hawks. Boston sat their entire Big Four and played without 58% for the scoring. Memphis beat Charlotte 85-80 sending the Bobcats to their 19th straight defeat. Dallas and Oklahoma City were also easy winners on the abbreviated six-game NBA schedule.
Pens win 3-2 to force Game Six
The Pittsburg Penguins avoided elimination with a 3-2 home win over the Flyers. The Pens got second period goals from Jordan Stall and Tyler Kennedy to take the lead and then survived a scoreless third period. The Flyers lead the series 3-2 with the series going back to Philly for Game VI on Sunday. Nashville became the first team to advance, closing out the Red Wings 4-1 after a 2-1 win at Music City. David Legwand got the game winner 13 seconds into the third period as the Preds won just their second playoff series in fanchise history.

Reds get 10,000th win in franchise history
The Cincinnati Reds became the sixth team in MLB history to record 10,000 wins after beating the Cubs 9-4 at Wrigley Field. The Reds batted around in a 41-pitch first inning for Cub pitcher Chris Volstad. Cincinnati made the most of their 12 hits, nine of which were singles. The wins were blowing in, gusting up to 27 mph, and the game-time temperature was 35 degrees with the wind chill.
The Yankees spoiled Fenway Park’s 100th birthday celebration as Ivan Nova won his 15th straight decision and Alex Rodriguez hit his 631st career home run. Nova is just one win behind Roger Clemen’s 16 straight wins as a Bronx Bomber and ARod passed Ken Griffey Jr for 5th place on the all-time home run list. The Red Sox fell to 4-9 and are 11-29 since September 1st of last years. Over those 40 games, BoSox starters have a 6.72 ERA.

The UFC returns from a rare two month Pay-Per-View hiatus with a blockbuster card in Atlanta featuring Jon “Bones” Jones defending his light-heavyweight belt against Rashad Evans. Miguel Torres and Micheal Michael McDonald face off in a key bantamweight matchup. Highly touted Rory MacDonald and Stephen ‘Wonderboy” Thompson are also on the card.

Real Madrid at Barcelona “El Clasico” 2:00 PM EST Saturday
Today’s El Clasico lost some of it’s lustre after both Real Madrid and Barcelona lost their Champion’s League semi away legs during the week but … today’s showdown will go a long well in determining the winner of La Liga and the scoring championship between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Barcelona hopes to continue their recent domination (8-1-1 L10) of Real Madid as they trail Los Blancos by four points in La Liga with five games left.
