Spurs can clinch tonight in South Beach

The San Antonio Spurs can clinch their fifth world championship of the Tim Duncan era with a win tonight in Game VI of the NBA finals. The Miami Heat are -7 point favorites with the high/low currently set at 191 1/2/ A lot has been made of the Heat’s 12-0 SU and ATS record after a straight up loss since January 10. Just one team in the history of the NBA has one a Game VII on the road (Bullets mid-70’s) so San Antonio will be bringing it’s A-Game tonight. Can San Antonio sea the deal on the road. Should be a good one.

Rask the nuts in Bruins 2-0 Game III win over the Blackhawks

Tuukka Rask stopped 28 shots and the Boston Bruins dominated play for almost the entire 60 minutes in their 2-0 Game III NHL finals win over Chicago. Patrice Bergeron and Daniel Paille lit the lamp for Boston who now leads the series two game to one. Game IV is Wednesday at TD Arena in Boston and the Bruins have opened as -135 favorites.

MLB News and Notes

The Dodgers travel to the Bronx today to fave the Bombers in interleague play. It’s the first time the Bums have played at Yankee Stadium in 32 (1981 World Series) years. It also marks the return of Dan Mattingly to the Bronx in an opposing uniform. The Bombers are considering placing first baseman Mark Teixeira on the DL with wrist problems.

The Tigers beat the Orioles 5-1 on Monday as Max Scherzer improved to 10-0. The Motown fireballer struck out 10 and Miguel Cabrera provided the offense with a two-run bomb. FWI, Cabrera is hitting .487 with men in scoring position.

The future of the New York Mets is on display tonight in a double-header with the Atlanta Braves. Matt Harvey (5-1, 2.04) pitches the 1:10 PM Game I matinee for the Metropolitans while Zack Wheeler makes his MLB debut after being called up from AAA Las Vegas in the nightcap.

The San Diego Padres won their season high seventh straight victory 5-3 over San Francisco in 13 innings. The Friars pushed across the winner on a suicide squeeze.

Around the horn in the NFL

Social media was abuzz on Monday when it was released that Pacman Jones would speak to the rookies for the second straight, this despite Jones being charged with assaulting a female who had menaced him with a beer bottle. Two jackass morning zoo DJs were fired in Atlanta after doing a bit involving former New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason who is in the final stages of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Gleason is unable to move or speak. Gleason was the one who recovered the Saints famous onside kick to open the second half in the Saints Super Bowl win over the Colts.
