Baltimore at Denver kicks off NFL season tonight
The NFL kicks off tonight with the playoff rematch between the Ravens and the Broncos. With the Orioles not relinquishing their parking rights at Camden Yards, the Raven become the first defending Super Bowl champs to open on the road since the 2003 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Broncos are currently -7.5 point favorites with the total 49 1/2. Weather will be almost perfect with the temperature an unseasonably warm 87.
Both teams underwent significant roster overalls in the off-season. The Ravens went through the usual post Super Bowl attrition where everyone including quarterback Joe Flacco needed to get paid. The Broncos have been hammered with training camp injuries and will be without their top two defensive players (Von Miller suspended, Champ Bailey sprained foot) tonight.
The Ravens are 5-2 ATS in their L7 road openers. Including last year’s playoff run, Baltimore is 14-6 in their L20 as road dogs. Denver is 12-1 (9-4 ATS) in their L13 home openers. Under Manning, the Broncos were 6-1 as home favorites last year after a run of 5-24-2 the previous five years.

Teixeira KO’s Bader quick on UFC Fight Night
Not many fighters have entered the UFC with the hype of Brazilian light-heavyweight Glover Teixeira. To this point, he’s lived up to the advanced billing after winning his 20th straight fight after knocking out Ryan Bader in the first round last night on Fox Fight Night. Bader came out winging and dropped Teixeira early but was unable to finish. Teixeira scored with his own left cross which floored Bader. The Brazilian jumped right in with some ground and pound which prompted referee Herb Dean to jump in and make the save on the defenseless Bader.
