Gonzaga rolls over St Mary’s for WCC title

Top-ranked Gonzaga won its 11th WCC title in 16 years with a 65-51 dismantling of St Mary’s in a game that was never in doubt. Kelly Olynyk had 21 points and 12 boards for the Zags who will now likely be the top seed in the West when March Madness brackets are announced on Sunday. Elias Harris added 19 points for the winners who held the Gaels to a season low in points. Stephen Holt was St Mary’s lone offense with 19 points. All WCC guard Mathew Dellavedova played all 40 minutes but scored just two points on 1-8 shooting.

Get ready for buzzer beaters and bad beats

It’s tournament time so you know that it’s going to be a month of buzzer beaters and bad beats. If you watched Sports Center at all over the weekend, you probably saw the buzzer beaters that saved Belmont and Valpo. There are also going to be bad beats. If you had Iona (-4) and a 58-50 lead with 1 second left last night, you probably felt pretty good about cashing your ticket …. right ??? Wrong !!! A three-pointer combined with a team technical gave Manhattan a final tick back-door cover in the MEAC tournament final. I didn’t have it but that must have hurt.

Nuggets pound Phoenix for 9th straight win

Denver routs Phoenix 108-93 for their 9th straight win

NFL free agency starts today at 4:00 PM EST

Free agency starts today but a lot of the big names out their expecting to get paid might be in for a surprise. There is not as much money out there as in previous years and several of the big spenders in the past are struggling with their respective caps. The action should be hot and heavy over the next several days and Sportbetting3 will be on it like white on rice.

Percy Harvin to the Seahawks, Boldin to the 49ers

A pair of unhappy wide receivers were dealt on Monday. Percy Harvin finally wore out his welcome in Minnesota and was dealt to the Seahawks for a package of draft picks that includes Seattle’s first pick this year, the No.25thpick overall. The deal is contingent on Harvin passing a physical and signing an extension.

In a ‘Harbaugh friendly” deal, the Baltimore Ravens sent wide out Anquan Boldin to the 49ers for a sixth-round pick. The deal was not surprising as Boldin was asked to and refused to take a 30% cut in salary (2 million) by the cap strapped Ravens. A sixth-round pick ??? John could have at least included a six-pack and a blanket.

Illinois sinkhole swallows Missouri golfer

Illinois and Missouri are known for their border war skirmishes in football and basketball. Now it seems that Illinois sinkholes are swallowing up Missouri golfers. It’s true …. a 43-year old mortgage broker from from Creve Coeur, Missouri abruptly dropped into the ground on the fairway of the 14th hole at a golf course in Waterloo, Illinois. Mark Mihal, 43, survived the fall into the 18 foot deep by 10 foot wide sinkhole with just a dislocated shoulder.
