What are the Odds of the Rose Bowl?

The 2023 Rose Bowl will feature No. 9 Penn State (10-2) of the Big Ten and No. 7 Utah (10-3) of the Pac-12. The Utah Utes (-2.5) are the favorites in this contest. For those interested in betting the moneyline, Utah (-133) is a slight favorite, and you cannot get much value on Penn State’s moneyline (+111).

The over/under for the game is 52.5 points. Of the five games on January 2, it falls in the middle in terms of the point total.

Who are the Key Players in the Rose Bowl?

Utah junior Cameron Rising has a terrific name for a quarterback, and he was top 10 this year in QBR and top 20 in passing touchdowns (25). He went for 2,939 passing yards, 31 total touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Rising went for three touchdowns each in the final two games of the season: a 63-21 win at Colorado and a 47-24 victory in the Pac-12 Championship Game over the USC Trojans.

Penn State’s signal caller Sean Clfford, a redshirt senior, has thrown a touchdown pass in five different seasons. In his most recent game — a 35-16 win over Michigan State — he threw for four touchdown passes with 202 yards on 19-for-24 passing.

Penn State’s rushing leader Nicholas Singleton is only a freshman, and he went for more than 100 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in the win over Michigan State. Meanwhile, the best receiver in this game is tight end Dalton Kincaid, who has gone for 70 receptions, 890 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Penn State’s defense had a tremendous November, and redshirt junior cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was an All-Big Ten first-teamer. Coming off a season-ending injury, defensive tackle PJ Mustipher earned a nod on the All-Big Ten second team.

Rose Bowl Betting Preview

When taking a look at the odds, it is significant to note that the spread is fewer than three points. Both Penn State and Utah had strong ends to their seasons, so which team will prevail in this big battle?

In terms of taking the over or the under, we should look at each team’s recent performance. When it comes to this type of bowl game, they should leave it all on the field so maybe a lot of scoring can occur.
