The following are the latest odds to win the NFC East. Overall win-loss records determine each division’s champion. The NFL uses a tie-breaking procedure to determine a division champion should two or more teams have the same overall record.
The Division champion rests during the first week of the NFL playoffs, called “Wildcard Weekend”. They return to action the following week to face the winner of the game between Division Winner #4 and Wild Card team #1 in the divisional playoffs. The winners of each divisional playoff then compete to win the NFC Championship, with the NFC conference champion playing the Super Bowl against the AFC Champion.

NFC East Contenders
Can the Dallas Cowboys compete for the division against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles? When looking ahead, both the Cowboys and Eagles have difficult 2023 schedules. Betting NFL division futures is a smarter and less risky alternative to conference or Super Bowl futures. Though payouts for winning bets may not be as high, division futures present the intelligent NFL handicapper with an excellent opportunity to turn a profit.
First, identify one or two divisions with favorable betting odds. Divisions with an obvious winner don’t necessarily offer the best value. Instead, focus on divisions that have at least 1-2 likely contenders. Specifically, look for teams with mispriced odds, meaning those that oddsmakers consider bigger underdogs than your own handicapping suggests. Bets on these teams will offer better value.
Second, eliminate the least likely teams from consideration. Most NFL divisions have 2 dominant teams likely to win the division. Focus on these teams and ignore the longshots. Then, carefully monitor their progress throughout the opening weeks of the regular season.
Third, review each team’s schedule, particularly matchups in the latter part of the season. Weeks 15-18 could make or break a team’s chances of winning their division. Know whether your teams are likely to win or lose their final games of the season. Not all schedules are created equal.
Finally, assess the health of each team’s key players. Will they be strong enough to progress through the final weeks of the season, or will the team need to tap the second string? For that matter, does a team have a good second string? When the star quarterback, running back or linebacker gets injured, the team’s odds to win their division will likely move to underdog status unless they have a solid bench that can step up on short notice.
