Tennessee Sports Betting Sites – TN Sportsbooks

Tennessee legalized sports betting on June 4, 2019, with HB0001, “As enacted, enacts the ‘Tennessee Sports Gaming Act.’ – Amends TCA Title 4; Title 14; Title 38; Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 5; Title 47, Chapter 18; Title 49 and Title 67.” The bill was returned by Governor Bill Lee without signature. However, the bill still was able to pass.

Governor Lee’s press secretary Laine Arnold said, “The governor has said he does not believe that the expansion of gambling is best, but he recognizes that many in the legislature found this to be an issue they want to explore further. He plans to let this become law without his signature.”

The Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Council now regulates all Tennessee sports betting sites in the Volunteer State.

How to Place Bets at Tennessee Sportsbooks

Point Spread

The spread is the sportsbook’s estimated score difference. Lines move as a sportsbook balances its action. Depending on the sport, your Tennessee sportsbook will offer lines for the game, first half, quarter, or period.

For example, if the Memphis Grizzlies are -6.5, they would need to win by 7 points or more in order to cover the spread.

If the New Orleans Pelicans are +6.5, they must win outright or lose by 6 or fewer points.

Underdog Tennessee Titans - Tennessee Titans bettors risk $100 to win $95.24 at -105 odds.

A +3.5 Tennessee Titans underdog bet wins if they lose by 3 or fewer, tie, or win outright. Your bet loses if they lose by 4 or more.

Favorite Indianapolis Colts - Indianapolis Colts bettors risk $100 to win $86.96 at -115 odds.

A -3.5 Indianapolis Colts favorite bet wins if they win by 4 or more. Your bet loses if they win by 3 or fewer, tie, or lose outright.

Total

Bettors wager whether the combined point total will be over or under the sportsbook’s line. “O” stands for Over, “U” stands for under.

Moneyline

Choose the outright winner. Favorites have a minus value. Underdogs have a plus value. Betting $100 on the Memphis Grizzlies to win at -220 odds would result in a $45 win, for example.

Parlays

A parlay combines multiple selections into a single bet. In order for the bet to win, each selection must win. If one selection loses, the entire parlay loses. Parlays can include point spread, total, moneyline, and props from one or more games.

Most sportsbooks allow you to combine selections from multiple leagues and sporting events.

Teasers

A teaser is a variation of the parlay. Bettors can buy points to shift point spread and total lines in their favor in exchange for a lower payout. Combine multiple selections to increase the payout. Teasers are typically restricted to the NFL and NBA.

Futures

A futures bet is placed at any point during the season prior to a championship, playoff, final standing, or league award announcement.

Legal Tennessee sports betting sites have a great selection of futures bets for major US sports leagues. Choose a team or player to win in advance of the event. Bets placed earlier in the season pay more than those placed later on, though they’re harder to win.

Props

Bet on various outcomes indirectly related to a game’s final result. Decide whether a player will achieve a statistic over or under the sportsbook’s line, like the number of points, passes, tackles, goals, or hits in a game.

Sportsbooks also offer props for events unrelated to the game itself. Many enjoy betting whether the length of the Super Bowl National Anthem will go over or under the sportsbook’s line.

Most Popular Sport in Tennessee

The state’s most popular sport is college football. Tennesseeans love to follow the Tennessee Volunteers, who play games at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. The other Tennessee sports teams are the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Memphis Tigers.
