Put the most likely winners in the first key. Then enter other probable top finishers in the remaining three keys. Why pay for extra horses in the first key if you don’t think they can win?

Now you’ll have 26 possible winning combinations versus the novice who bets everything on one horse. Best of all, the return-on-investment will be much higher!

Key 1
Put Angel of Empire and National Treasure in the first key.
Angel of Empire finished 3rd at the Kentucky Derby. He previously won the G1 Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park on 4/1/2023, coming off a victory at the G2 Risen Star Stakes on February 18, 2023 at Fair Grounds racetrack.
National Treasure comes off a win at the Preakness Stakes, with a decisive victory over Kentucky Derby winner Mage. Previously he finished 4th at the G1 Santa Anita Derby on April 4, 2023. His most recent in-the-money finish was 3rd at the G1 Sham Stakes on January 8, 2023, also at Santa Anita.
Key 2
Add both Angel of Empire and National Treasure to the 2nd key. We’ll also add Forte for our 3rd horse.
Forte scratched from the Kentucky Derby about 10 hours before post time. One of a pair of Todd Pletcher horses slated for the Belmont Stakes, Forte won this year’s G1 Florida Derby on 4/1/2023 and the G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes on 3/4/2023. Previously, he won the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on 11/04/2022

We’ll reuse Forte in the 3rd key. The other 2 horses in the 3rd key will be Red Route One and Tapit Trice.
Red Route One wound up 4th at the Preakness Stakes. Before that, he won Oaklawn Park’s Bath House Row on April 22, 2023. He finished out of the money at the Arkansas Derby on April 1, 2023, having finished second to Confidence Game on February 25, 2023 at the G2 Rebel Stakes.
After being touted as a potential Kentucky Derby winner, Tapit Trice finished a disappointing 7th. Before the Kentucky Derby, he had been undefeated in his last 4 races, beginning with a MSW at Aqueduct Park on December 17, 2022, to the G1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on April 8, 2023. Before the Blue Grass Stakes he won the G3 Tampa Bay Derby on March 11, 2023.
